Libby
OverDrive's library borrowing app: cards, holds, loan periods, and Kindle fulfillment where it exists.
Anyone with a valid library card who wants holds, lucky-day copies, and in-app reading.
Libby is not a shop and not a place to keep files. When the loan ends, access ends.
| Formats | In-app EPUB-style reading, MP3/audiobook streaming, and Kindle fulfillment in supported regions |
|---|---|
| DRM / license | Loans are time-limited licenses. You do not keep a library file after the due date. |
| How files get in | You do not sideload into Libby. You borrow, read in Libby, or send eligible loans to Kindle. |
| Store | Not a store — public and some academic libraries via OverDrive |
| Libraries | One or more library cards, holds, skip-the-line copies, and notify-me tags. |
| Refunds | There is nothing to refund. Return a title early to free the copy for the next person. |
| Sync | Libby syncs loans and progress for the same card across phones and tablets. |
| Sharing | Each reader should use their own card where the library allows. Do not share login emails casually. |
